.WOODY GUTHRIE’S “machine” killed fascists– or two United States’s wonderful dust-bowl balladeer composed on his acoustic guitar. Port White’s electricity device “takes legal action against fascists”, wrote the frontman of The White Stripes on Instagram on September 9th. The “fascist” is actually Donald Trump, who just recently made use of the band’s most popular song, “Seven Country Soldiers”, in a campaign video.
Mr White prefers him to stop. He joins a long list of artists who object to Mr Trump using their songs: Abba, Celine Dion, Beyoncu00e9, Foo Fighters, the properties of Isaac Hayes and also Sinu00e9ad O’Connor and also Johnny Marr of The Smiths– as well as those are only the objectors coming from this year. (Our team’ve come up with a playlist of Trump-appropriated songs.) Can they turn the popular music off?
